What will you be drinking this Christmas?

It probably comes as no surprise to people that know me that one of my favourite parts about Christmas day is planning what we will be drinking to compliment our meals and festive activities! I think we are so lucky here in the UK to have such a fabulous range of homegrown wine, so this year I will be choosing a selection of Kent wines to enjoy throughout the big day  (and before…. and after!!).

If you want to explore more of the wine on offer throughout Kent, why not join us on a wine tour in 2024?

In the meantime, here’s what’s on my wine list for Christmas 2023…

1. Breakfast: Woodchurch Classic Cuvee 2017 – £34
It’s always lovely to start the day with some fizz and this award winning light, fresh but complex wine is such a great example of traditional method English sparkling wine. Perfect with fatty smoked salmon and buttery croissants, yum!

2. Present time! Westwell Wines Wootton Top 2021 £26
Sticking with bubbles for now, I’m opting for Westwell Wines new release Wootton Top 2021. Made in the Col Fondo style, it’s bright and clean but with great complexity from lees ageing and skin maceration making it an ideal aperitif to get the appetite going

3. Christmas Dinner: Warehorne Oasthouse Pinot Noir £23.50
Pinot Noir is the perfect choice for turkey and all the trimmings. Warehorne Vineyards is light on the palette with ripe red fruits and a well-balanced acidity, plus it’s lightly oaked meaning it can stand up to the richness of Christmas dinner.

4. Christmas Pudding: Wayfarer, Hedgerow Pinot Meunier Rose 2021, £21.50
Christmas pudding is such a decadent treat – especially if like me you can never choose between custard, cream or ice cream! Wayfarer’s slightly off-dry pinot meuniere rose is the perfect accompaniment to such a rich and sweet desert. But it also pairs so well with lots of different cheeses so a great all rounder whatever your serving after the big feast!

Whatever your plans are this Christmas, we hope you have a wonderful time!
